Barley Hall provides a truly unique setting for your wedding; a medieval building in the heart of historic York, guaranteeing wonderful memories that last a lifetime.This exceptional historic house offers you the opportunity to create a celebration set within a rich and sumptuous atmosphere made by beamed ceilings, flickering candlelight, and medieval ornamentation.

The Hall is licensed for civil ceremonies and civil partnerships and can also offer you a beautiful venue for receptions, from canapé parties to medieval banquets. You may choose to have either your ceremony or your reception at Barley Hall - or both.

Whatever you select, you can be assured of a memorable day, in a remarkable setting, with personal dedicated service from one of our experienced team of wedding coordinators.

Barley Hall holds a license to offer you the opportunity to celebrate your civil ceremony or civil partnership at the Hall, and we can cater up to 45 guests. Please note that you are responsible for booking the Registrar for your ceremony.

Barley Hall is an ideal venue for intimate weddings and receptions for those wanting to celebrate with special friends and family members

The Parlour
Celebrations within the Parlour will enjoy an exceptional atmosphere lit by glistening candles highlighting the rich red wall hangings in this superb room. The Parlour was once the room from which the Lord Mayor of York, Alderman William Snawsell resided over his business affairs and the furnishings recreated here reflect the high status of this important citizen of York in the 15th century.

The Great Hall
Both ceremonies and receptions can be held in this remarkable high-beamed room which is dressed with hand painted hangings and features a decorative medieval tiled floor. Your ceremony will certainly be one that you and guests remember for years to come if you select this striking setting for your celebration

The Gallery
If you chose to celebrate your ceremony and reception at Barley Hall, you may want to choose the Gallery as a venue for your welcome drinks at no extra charge. The Gallery features windows that overlook the Great Hall and is located next to the Parlour on the first floor.

The Gallery can also be used to take your photographs both before and after your ceremony, as can the courtyard area outside Barley Hall.
